David H. Clelland Scholarship Award - Created 1995

When Dad retired he was asked of what accomplishment was he most proud? "I
am most proud, not of the many victories during my career, but of the many
young men who used wrestling as a stepping stone to a college education, and
to those in some way I may have influenced to a better life" was his reply.

When Dad died in March 94 many friends and former wrestlers wanted to do
something to honor Dad's memory, so the Clelland Scholarship was created. It
is presented annually to the senior wrestler at Greenville High School for

continuing their education. The recipient must exhibit qualities of good
sportsmanship, good citizenship and a good work ethic as fostered by Coach
Clelland.

Note: It is believed that Coach Clelland is the only coach in PA to have coached in two programs that both have 500 wins. Waynesburg and Greenville.
